Baltimore City pools will remain free to the public in 2023

BALTIMORE, MD. (Sunday, June 4, 2023) - Today, Mayor Brandon M. Scott, City officials, and Baltimore City Recreation & Parks (BCRP) kicked off pool season with its annual Big Splash event at Druid Hill Park Pool. There is no cost to swim at City pools.

In 2023, the City will operate 12 pools, including six park pools and six neighborhood pools.

Aquatics facilities at Druid Hill, Riverside, and Roosevelt Parks are currently open, operating on a weekend schedule. Lake Clifton, Cherry Hill Splash Pad, and Patterson Park Pool will open by late June due to routine maintenance.

"Our annual Big Splash event is always an exciting way to open pool season, which is a favorite for residents of all ages across the city," said Mayor Brandon M. Scott. "Our pools serve as a fantastic resource and gathering space for communities all across Baltimore, providing a safe venue for Baltimoreans to enjoy themselves while escaping the summer heat. The City is committed to continuing to offer accessible, cost-effective swim opportunities at our high-quality, state-of-the-art aquatics facilities all summer long. This year, we're incredibly excited to be making our teen pool parties a focal point of our youth engagement effort, and making pool season a highlight for everyone's summer in Baltimore."

City park pools operate through Labor Day while neighborhood pools are open from June 15 thru August 20. Prior to June 15, park pools are open Saturday and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Beginning on June 15, swim facilities are open seven days a week, with the exception of neighborhood pools which are closed on Sundays. Summer pool hours are Monday thru Thursday, 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Weekend hours are Friday thru Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

"We're excited about welcoming back swimmers of all ages to enjoy our pools all around the city," said BCRP Executive Director Reginald Moore. "BCRP looks forward to providing our residents with swim and other recreational programs at our pools throughout the summer."

New at City pools this summer, BCRP - in partnership with the Mayor's Office - is hosting seven Teen Pool Parties. Teen Pool parties will feature extended pool hours, food, and music from DJ Nitro.
