Mayor Young Announces Discounted Parking During the Holiday Season
BALTIMORE, MD. — The City of Baltimore will offer free and discounted parking during the holiday season from November 30, 2019 through January 19, 2020.
“Residents from across the region travel to Baltimore City to do their holiday shopping including, Black Friday as well as Small Business Saturday, and we are delighted to support these events with free and discounted parking,” said Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young. “By offering residents and visitors alike discounted parking it allows consumers to spend less on parking and more on their family and friends. At my direction, the Parking Authority of Baltimore City (PABC) – in coordination with Baltimore Main Streets – is instituting free on-street parking the Friday through Sunday following Thanksgiving. Additionally, PABC will be offering discounted parking at ten city-owned garages on weekends between November 30th and January 19th. Many of these garages are in or near Main Street areas.”
Visit Baltimore, the city’s official destination marketing organization, is promoting these discounted rates and highlighting holiday events and happenings throughout the city at Baltimore.org.
“Baltimore’s waterfront and neighborhoods are bursting with holiday fun for the whole family. Whether you’re planning a day trip or staying overnight at one of the city’s great hotels, we encourage visitors and locals alike to take advantage of these discounted parking rates,” said Al Hutchinson, President & CEO of Visit Baltimore. “No visit to Baltimore is complete without visiting our famous museums and attractions, but seasonal offerings include the Inner Harbor’s authentic German Christmas Village, Hampden’s Miracle on 34th Street, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum’s Kwanzaa celebration, Mount Vernon’s Washington Monument Lighting and more. Our city’s maker scene is also thriving, and many neighborhood shops and independent boutiques are stocking locally crafted treasures that are great for gift-giving this time of year.”
Last week, Mayor Young kicked off the 15th Annual Miracles on Main Street, which is a city-wide effort to encourage Baltimoreans and area residents to shop local for the holidays. Main Streets shopping offers a unique small business experience for local merchants to showcase their businesses and gives consumers opportunities to find those perfect holiday gifts for reasonable prices at unique shops that you can’t find in a mall.
Free parking will be available in Baltimore Main Streets neighborhoods including Belair-Edison, East Monument Street, Federal Hill, Fell’s Point, Hamilton-Lauraville, Highlandtown, Pennsylvania Avenue, Pigtown and Waverly on this Friday, November 29, Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1 (small business weekend) only. Discounted parking will be offered in select garages. Stipulations include:
